Stumbling in out of the rain, I ease my way into the long, narrow bar, not noticing much apart from the fact that the pub goes back a long way, and is showing football. Looking a bit harder, I realise that a) the choice of beer is limited to lager b) the pub is exclusively populated by middle-aged men and c) many of them are romantically attached to each other. One for specialists only.
