Ham pubs

Where does London end and the home counties start? It's hard to say but Ham, with no tube or train station, certainly doesn't feel like London. Some of the pubs are worth visiting, if you can actually manage to get some kind of transport there.

The Legless Frog, 24 Upper Ham Road, Ham
As you might have already guessed we are nowhere near East or West Ham. In fact it might as well be on another planet: the planet Surrey - a land of enormous motorised beasts driven by boorish bank managers, trophy wives and wannabee Chav children. This establishment has a quaint villagey appeal and on entering you enter a vaguely endearing world of low ceilings and yokel locals propping up the bar. The sign outside had promised a selection of real ales, but it soon became apparent that this was a lie. Faced with a choice between a well known mass-produced bitter and the only ale, we foolishly went for the latter. This was a wholly regrettable decision as it turned out to be the worst pint in history. Armed with the distracting power given to us by the test match on TV, we decided to soldier on and stuck at the task of drinking our pints as resolutely as an English batsman facing a delivery from Glenn McGrath. Our faces were contorted in disgust as the vile liquid washed over our beleaguered taste buds and then it all started to go wrong. Like the elixir of doom, the beer brought about a classic England batting collapse. Convinced the beer had tainted England's luck we drained our glasses and left before the Australians could inflict any more damage.
